A Brothel that Relies on ‘Wheels’
and not ‘Legs’ for Business
Brothels have now
found a new way to publicize their services. No, we are not talking about
the traditional direct marketing methods. A legalized brothel in the
glittering city of Las Vegas is now capturing attention by driving a
moving billboard around the city. Apparently, this is also the first time
that a brothel is advertising, and the one to set the trend rolling is
none other than the ‘world popular’ as well as ‘historically prominent’
Chicken Ranch.
Residents of the city believe that Las Vegas represents everything bold
and spectacular, and an overtly sensitive mindset is certainly not welcome
here. Center of not just attention but also sexual innuendos, the
billboard has been successful in its primary purpose – drawing attention.
In the recent past, brothel advertising laws have been subject to intense
scrutiny.
While two state laws had banned brothel advertisements, a federal judge
found nothing illegal about it and revoked the ban, leaving the brothels
beaming.
The billboard is sponsored by the Chicken Ranch Brothel in Pahrump, and is
being promoted as an educational tool for customers with regard to legal
prostitution. Legal brothels are allowed to flourish in counties of
Nevada, where the population is less than 40,000. State laws, however,
have different rules for counties with a population of more than 40,000.
Despite the controversy, people have still managed to see the creative
side of the billboard. Most of them believe that it speaks of class, and
is not, in the least, distasteful.
