Nevada has been famous for its relaxed laws on prostitution and brothels for decades. The first Nevada brothel was established a town called Elko, in 1902.
Las Vegas no longer has any legal brothels their was a red light district until it was shut down in 1948 for being a public nuisance.

Testing for HIV became mandatory in 1986. Since then not a single prostitute working in a legal brothel has been tested positive for HIV. Research has shown that condom use is very much compliant and diseases are absent

Today there are around 30 legal brothels in Nevada. Prostitution is illegal in Las Vegas, but there have been numerous occasions where illegal ungrounded brothels have been performing business. In April 2007 Vegas Police shutdown 10 Las Vegas brothels operating in the Clark County area.

The woman tend to work for a month or so at a time and live in the brothel. Within that time they rarely leave the premises.
